Scientific Writing & Citing Tools Vendor Fair In-Person

Writing a research paper is hard, and writing with a group is even harder! In the new world of scientific research, simply writing in Microsoft Word and managing citations in EndNote is not enough. Authors need comprehensive and sophistical tools in order to write collaboratively, to manage and cite references, share their code and data, and to publish.

Join the UCSF Library on July 26 for the Scientific Writing & Citing Tools Vendor Fair. We've invited several vendors to talk about a selection of research tools geared towards making you a more effective researcher.  We'll start with a five-minute overview for each product, featuring either the vendor or one of their super users.  You'll then have the opportunity to find out more about the products during the vendor meet & greet fair and reception. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

Vendors we've invited:
  • RefWorks - reference management
  • Mendeley - reference management
  • F1000 Workspace - collaborative writing and reference management
  • Google Docs - collaborative writing
  • Authorea - collaborative writing, LaTeX
  • Overleaf - collaborative writing
  • GitHub - code sharing and version control
  • Center for Open Science - collaborative project management

Who should attend?
The fair is geared towards graduate students, postdocs, residents, faculty, staff researchers, and anyone who has an interest in finding the right tool for collaborative research projects.
