The Evolution of Urology at UCSF In-Person

Join UCSF Archives & Special Collections and UCSF Department of Urology for a panel discussion exploring the recently published book Department of Urology, The First 100 years: 1917-2017, capturing the evolution of urology at UCSF.

The book documents its beginnings as a small division of surgery treating primarily venereal diseases to a massive clinical enterprise powered by a research engine that ranks first in NIH funding for urology.  The cleanly laid out, 150-page book showcases abundant archived and current day pictures to help illustrate the department’s journey.  Well-researched personal accounts follow the birth of the specialty, the struggle to reach department status, and the climb to its current position as one of the top ten urology programs in the country whose commitment to educating future leaders in the field is unwavering.

Free and open to the public.  Light refreshments provided.
