HathiTrust Research Center Data and Tools for Digital Health Humanities: An Overview

HathiTrust Research Center Data and Tools for Digital Health Humanities: An Overview Online

There are more than 17.5 million digitized publications in the HathiTrust Digital Library, many of which are useful for health humanities research, from institutional history to government documents to published literature. The HathiTrust Research Center (HTRC) provides many opportunities to conduct computational analysis on this content, from beginner-friendly exploratory visualizations to Python libraries developed to help you dig deep into a textual corpus. In this workshop with HTRC Associate Director for Outreach & Education Janet Swatscheno, you will learn about finding health related resources in HathiTrust, curating these into collections, finding or establishing a textual corpus for your research, and tools for exploring and analyzing text as data.

A companion session on Friday, May 26, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. PDT, Text Analysis for Digital Health Humanities: Using HTRC Data and Tools will feature hands-on opportunities to learn and apply Python coding for analysis of textual data extracted from HathiTrust collection materials, and using HTRC tools and services.
