SUMMARY:Jupyter Notebook Collection Data Exploration: No More Silence
DESCRIPTION:This day-long workshop will get you familiar with working with
Python code using Jupyter notebooks to analyze sample data from the No More
Silence dataset\, which draws from AIDS History Project collections.
Jupyter notebooks are a way to publish\, share\, and execute code in a web
browser alongside narrative descriptions of\, and annotations about\, the
code and data you are working with. In this workshop\, we’ll introduce
notebooks designed to support exploration of a dataset drawn from archival
collection materials. If you are new to or curious about digital health
humanities\, you’ll learn both about the fundamentals of how to use
Python libraries to prep\, explore\, and analyze data as well as about the
research potential of archives as data.\n\nThroughout the day\, Charlie
Macquarie and Geoff Boushey will guide you though hands-on coding
activities which gradually increase in complexity and model common data
exploration workflows. Note that there will be several breaks\, including a
lunch break from 12-1pm.\n\nThis workshop is geared towards learners who
are new to computational textual analysis but have some basic familiarity
 in Python programming concepts.
