June Event Focus: Protocol Sharing and Publishing
Graduate students, post docs, and research staff, we need your help! Come join the UCSF Library for some dinner and drinks to share your vision on the future of protocol searching, sharing and publishing. We have invited special guests Marielle Cavrois, Editor in Chief of Bio-protocol and Lenny Teytelman, CEO and cofounder of protocols.io to talk about existing platforms for protocol sharing and publishing. Together, we can build a vision for generating reproducible and efficient science!
Location: Genentech Hall Atrium, Second Level
Presenters:
Marielle Cavrois, PhD, Editor-in-Chief of Bio-protocol, Director of the Gladstone Flow Cytometry Laboratory, and UCSF Assistant Professor
Marielle has ~20 years of academic research experience in the fields of Virology and Immunology. She did her graduate studies in France, her post-doctoral fellowship at the Gladstone Institutes, and joined UCSF as a faculty member in 2012. As both a core director and an active investigator, she sees first-hand the need for more transparency and reproducibility in life science research. In 2016, she joined the editorial team of Bio-protocol, a free to access free to publish e-journal that curates high quality peer-reviewed protocols. Marielle believes that free access to high quality protocols will improve reproducibility and accelerate research.
Lenny Teytelman, PhD, Co-Founder of protocols.io, an open access repository for science methods.
Lenny has over a decade of computational and experimental biology experience. He did his graduate studies at UC Berkeley and finished his postdoctoral research at MIT. For three years, prior to switching from math and computer science to molecular biology, he was a database developer. Lenny brings to protocols.io a strong passion for sharing science and improving research efficiency through technology.
