Needlecraft Monthly Meet-Up - Prayer Shawl Project

Needlecraft Monthly Meet-Up - Prayer Shawl Project In-Person

Calling all fans of knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, sewing, and embroidery! This month's Needlecraft Meet-up will be dedicated to knitting prayer shawls for the UCSF community.

The ZSFG Palliative Care Program is knitting prayer shawls for patients as part of the Comfort Care Cart. The word palliative comes from the Latin palliativus meaning "to cloak" and so these shawls symbolically cloak those who are suffering. Volunteers don't have to stick to this pattern - you can feel free to use your creativity and work with what you have (time, yarn type, etc).

Attend the monthly Needlework Meet-up to start knitting a shawl and come back to continue to knit anytime the Makers Lab is open.

Have questions about the Makers Lab? Visit the Makers Lab website or email us at makerslab@ucsf.edu with questions. All Makers Lab pop-ups are open to the UCSF community.

When you register for a pop-up, the Library reserves space for you. Since many of our pop-ups have a waitlist, please cancel your registration if you can no longer attend.
