Preprint Publishing: A New Way Forward In-Person

People at a reception chatting Preprint publishing of biomedical sciences research has increased dramatically in recent years and repositories like bioRxiv have exploded in popularity. Why are people depositing their unpublished, non peer-reviewed work to public platforms? What are the risks, what are the benefits, and what are the challenges?

This Preprint symposium will introduce UCSF postdocs, students, faculty, and staff to the topic of preprints, highlight best practices for preprint publishing, and celebrate UCSF researchers who have made their own publications available as preprints. The symposium will begin with an introduction to preprints, followed by a panel discussion and then a series of lightning talks from preprint authors. The event will conclude with a networking social event and a chance to connect with other researchers involved in this exciting new area of scientific publishing.
