SUMMARY:Introduction to Clinical Informatics
DESCRIPTION:Overview\n\nThis is an introductory lecture in clinical
informatics\, including an overview of computational methodologies
available to mine and analyze Electronic Health Record Data (EHR)\, and of
recent studies that incorporate and feature EHR data. We will also focus on
the utility of common data models\, such as the Observational Medical
Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) model created by the OHDSI consortium\, which
is in the center of the UC-Health Data Warehouse. \n\nLearning
Objectives\n\nBy the end of the workshop participants
should:\n\n\n	Understand components of EHRs\n	Understand strengths and
weaknesses of EHRs\n	Understand what a common data model is (e.g. the OMOP
model)\n\n\nPrerequisites\n\nThere are no prerequisites for this course
other than having an interest in clinical informatics and EHR data
analysis. \n\nSoftware\n\nThis course does not require any special software
 to be installed.\n\nInstructor\n\nBenjamin Glicksberg\, PhD is a
Postdoctoral Scholar in Atul Butte’s lab in the Bakar Computational
 Health Sciences Institute at UCSF.
