Genomic Annotations with R Bioconductor In-Person
Workshop Overview
This workshop is intended for individuals who are already comfortable with R programming and who are interested in learning to use R for annotating genomic data with information from various reference genome and functional databases using standard Bioconductor packages.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the workshop, participants should be able to:
- Download experimental data from public databases (e.g. GEO)
- Extract information from standard organism reference genomes
- Map between various standard gene identifiers
- Get transcript information for genes of interest
- Associate functional terms with genomic data from various public databases (e.g. GO)
Prerequisites
You must have some R programming experience to benefit from this course. Feel free to contact the instructors (see below) if you have questions about these requirements.
Software
Please have the latest versions of R and R Bioconductor installed on your laptop prior to the workshop. RStudio (the free version) is highly recommended as well, since we will be teaching in this environment.
Materials
Workshop materials are available online here.
