Intro to Python: Part 2 In-Person
Overview
This workshop is for members of the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and the general cancer community. The workshop will build on programming concepts introduced in Part 1 to read, analyze, and graph data from the file system. Exercises will be hands on and use the Jupyter notebook environment.
Learning Objectives
Introduction to Python Part 1 will follow the "Plotting and Programming with Python" lesson from the data carpentry organization.
Topics include:
- Importing and parsing unstructured data from the file system
- Importing and converting tabular data into DataFrames
- Selecting, filtering, and subsetting tabular data
- Generating summary statistics on a tabular data set
- Plotting and Graphing
Prerequisites
- Intro to Python: Part 1
- Have the software installed on your laptop prior to the workshop (see below). Bring your laptop!
Software
- Install Jupyter Notebook using Anaconda. Make sure you choose python 3.x (current version is 3.7)
