3D Printing at UCSF Part 3 (via Zoom) In-Person

Makers Lab Logo

NOTE: The Makers Lab is closed until further notice as part of UCSF efforts to limit the potential of COVID-19 spreading within our local community. This pop-up will be held online using Zoom. A link to the Zoom session will be sent to you the day before the pop-up.

Recommended prerequisite: 3D Printing at UCSF Parts 1 and 2

Do you have a CT scan that you would like to convert to a 3D print?

Join Makers Lab staff for the last of a three-part pop-up series for a hands-on demonstration on how to create 3D printable models from CT scans. Note: this pop-up will focus on converting and 3D printing models of bone. Learn how 3D printing is helping improve medical education, patient care, and how a large majority of this work can be done right inside the UCSF Parnassus Library.

We encourage attendees to use their own laptops and download the InVesalius and Meshmixer software prior to the pop-up, available for free for the Mac and PC platform. DICOM files (CT scan) will be provided at the start of the pop-up.

After attending the 90-minute pop-up you will be able to:

  1. Segment bone in a CT scan using a free medical image viewer
  2. Create a 3D surface rendering from a CT scan
  3. Remove artifacts from a 3D model generated from a CT scan

Have questions about the Makers Lab? Visit the Makers Lab website or email makerslab@ucsf.edu. This pop-up is open to the UCSF community.

When you register for a pop-up, the Library reserves space for you. Since many of our pop-ups have a waitlist, please cancel your registration if you can no longer attend.
