Designing Reproducible Spreadsheets Online

Overview

Have ever been frustrated by an Excel spreadsheet with missing data or struggled to import data from a spreadsheet to another data analysis tool? This workshop covers best practices for structuring, naming, and organizing spreadsheets in Excel, Google Sheets, and LibreOffice. We will discuss common pitfalls, and practice redesigning a messy spreadsheet. Whether you are new to working with spreadsheets, or consider yourself an Excel master, you will take away practical tips for designing spreadsheets that can enable any kind of data-driven project.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the this workshop attendees will be able to:

  • Describe best practices for reproducible data organization in spreadsheets
  • Design tidy spreadsheets that can be used in a wide variety of data analysis software
