3D Printing Part 3: 3D Printing from Medical Imaging Online

Do you have a CT scan you would like to convert to a 3D print?
Join Makers Lab staff for the final pop-up in a three-part series on how to create 3D printable models from CT scans. Note: this pop-up will focus on converting and 3D printing models of bone. Learn how 3D printing is helping to improve medical education, research, and patient education, and how a large majority of this work can be done inside the UCSF Library.
We encourage attendees to use their own laptops and download the InVesalius and Meshmixer software prior to the pop-up, available for free for Mac and PC. A three-button mouse is recommended, but not required. DICOM files (CT scan) will be provided at the start of the pop-up.
After attending the 90-minute pop-up you will be able to:
- Segment bone in a CT scan using a free medical image viewer
- Create a 3D surface rendering from a CT scan
- Remove artifacts from a 3D model generated from a CT scan
