This is a hands-on workshop that covers how to describe single variables and test for relationships between two variables using the R programming language. It is not an introductory R programming workshop. See prerequisities below.
Objectives
In this workshop you will will learn how to:
- describe single variables easily using dplyr functions (e.g. summary statistics, distribution tests)
- test for association between two variables (e.g. t-tests, correlations)
- correct for multiple testing
Prerequisites
Basic R programming skills, such as how to install packages, load data into R, read help files, and use basic functions. Please also have the software installed prior to the workshop (see below).
Software
- Install R
- Install RStudio (free desktop version)
Materials
Workshop materials will be available online by the time of the workshop.
Instructor
Karla Lindquist, PhD, is the Scientific Lead for the UCSF Library's Data Science Initiative.
